    Pitcher for the Texas Rangers (1989), Chicago White Sox (1991–97), San Francisco Giants (1997), Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1998–2002) and Los Angeles Dodgers (2003–05)
    He struggled with control issues during his career.
    He was relatively inconsistent as a starting pitcher.
    He became a journeyman after leaving the White Sox.
    His lack of conditioning was a key factor in his struggles.
    He missed the entire 2001 and 2002 seasons as a result of injuries.
    He pitched a no-hitter in his second career major league start.
    He pitched 300 innings in the majors, minors and winter leagues, all before his 22nd birthday.
    He was a member of the inaugural Tampa Bay Devil Rays roster (1998).
    He made a comeback after missing two seasons as a result of arthroscopic shoulder surgery.
    He served as the pitching coach at State College, following his retirement.
