Hockey Coach

The Resume

    (February 27, 1968- )
    Born in Marshfield, Massachusetts
Played for the San Jose Sharks (1991-94), Calgary Flames (1994-97), Boston Bruins (1997-98) and the Phoenix Coyotes (1998-2002)
Head coach of the Boston Bruins (2003-06) and the Pittsburgh Penguins
Assistant coach for the Tampa Bay Lightning (2007-09), New York Rangers (2009-13) and the Vancouver Canucks (2013-14)

Why he might be annoying:

He failed to lock a roster spot on a poor Sharks team during his first few seasons.
He primarily played on the bottom six lines during his playing career,
Despite guiding the Bruins to a playoff berth in his first season, he was fired after his second season when his team bottomed out following the lockout.
He waited ten years before landing his second NHL head coaching job.
He was described as being too much of a hard-ass of a coach by some former players.
Despite serving as the Canucks interim head coach for six games, he didn't get the wins and losses on his coaching record, as he was serving while John Tortorella got suspended.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a member of the inaugural Sharks roster (1991-92).
Some hockey pundits felt his firing in Boston shouldn't be pinned on him, as he was forced into an abysmal situation following the Joe Thornton trade.
He became the third coach in Penguins history to guide the team to a Stanley Cup title, following a coaching change in the same season (2016).
He said his time working as an assistant coach between head coaching jobs better prepared him for the Penguins job.
He was serving as the head coach for the Penguins farm affiliate in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and recorded a 18-5-0 record with the team before he replaced Mike Johnston in Pittsburgh.
He served on John Tortorella's coaching staffs in Tampa, New York and Vancouver.
