(1965), 'The Spy Who Came in from the Cold' (1965), 'The Assassination Bureau' (1969), 'Jabberwocky' (1977), 'The Chain' (1984), 'Foreign Body' (1986) and 'Crackers' (1998)
    Appeared on the London stage in 'Death of a Salesman' (1979), 'The Caretaker' (1991), 'The Price' (2004) and 'Visiting Mr. Green' (2007-08)
    He developed a pathological hatred for Christmas ('all that sentimental crap').
    His summary of his pre-Alf Garnett career: 'I played a funny foreigner, or a sinister foreigner, or a stupid foreigner, but always a foreigner, because I look sort of dark and can do accents.'
    He also tended to play characters older than his actual age, since he was prematurely balding.
    He recorded several musical albums in character as Alf Garnett.
    He was married to Connie Wake for 64 years.
    When a 'Til Death Us Do Part' viewer congratulated him on 'having a go at' immigrants, he replied, 'Actually, we're having a go at idiots like you.'
    'Death of a Salesman' author Arthur Miller said Mitchell's performance as Willy Loman was the best interpretation of the character he had ever seen.
    He returned to stage in 'The Price' only a week after suffering a stroke (2004).
    He won Olivier Awards for 'Death of a Salesman' and 'The Price.'
