Why Long Island, New York might be annoying:

It has very hot summers and freezing winters.
In July 1999, the temperature was at a high of 100° and then went down to below 50°.
Queens and Brooklyn are better known as 2 of the 5 boroughs of New York City, mostly because the inhabitants are embarrassed to say that they are from Long Island.
It is where Lizzie Grubman backed her SUV into 16 people.
Over the years, much natural farmland was destroyed to make houses.
During the American Revolution, British soldiers occupied it and drove many people out of their homes.
A Long Island Rail Road train crashed into a broken one, killing 78 riders (November 1950).

Why Long Island, New York might not be annoying:

It is a great place for farming.
It's a fairly convenient commute for residents who work in the city.
It's has great vacation spots, including the ritzy Hamptons, Jones Beach and many water parks.
Charles Lindbergh started his flight over the Atlantic Ocean from Long Island.
It is home to the New York Islanders, New York Mets and the US Open for Tennis.
Albert Einstein sailed on the Long Island Bay.
Due to many complaints and safety issues, it was decided not to open a nuclear power plant on Long Island.
Many celebrities grew up on Long Island, including Helen Slater, Billy Crystal, Danny Masterson, Christopher Masterson, Rodney Dangerfield, Mick Foley, Eddie Murphy, Mariah Carey, Melissa Joan Hart, Dave Attel, Sarah Hughes, Billy Joel, LL Cool J, Ron Jeremy, Howard Stern, Alec, Daniel, William and Billy Baldwin, John Edward, NAS, Jim Bruer, Ashanti and Andy Kaufman.
