Composer

The Resume

    (January 30, 1929-November 11, 1991)
    Born in Newark, New Jersey
Composed for Gunsmoke, Gilligan’s Island, Hawaii Five-O, Police Woman, and miniseries ‘Wheels (1978)’ and ‘Masada (1981)’

Died of pancreatic cancer in Encino, California at age 62

Why he might be annoying:

    Born Morton Aaron Suckno!
While he wasn’t exactly a big-screen superstar, he did have three Jerry Lewis features under his belt (‘Hardly Working,’ ‘Slapstick of Another Kind,’ and ‘Cracking Up,’ all in the 1980s).
While he had nine total Emmy nominations (including another for Five-O), he had only one Grammy nomination (for The Man from U.N.C.L.E., 1965).
At his passing, he was working on arrangements for John Williams and the Boston Pops.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was trained by Jerry Goldsmith, with whom he would regularly collaborate elsewhere.
Starting out as a conductor and arranger for Sammy Davis Jr., he would become a music director for several other core Rat Pack members.
For a specific generation, parts of one of his 5-O cues (from ‘Call to Danger,’ 1969) would be stitched into the iconic sounder for ‘a CBS SPECIAL presentation.’
He married only once – having two children – in 1957.
