Why they might be annoying:

    Trey was suspended from the 'University of Vermont' for a semester after he played a prank that went bad.
    They announced a temporary breakup after deciding to take an 'extended break' (October 2000).
    Fans call themselves 'Phishheads.'
    They've used props onstage such as huge hotdogs, pyrotechnics, enhanced
    firework sounds w/ technics, vacuum cleaners, balloons and chess games.(Yet another band feels the need to use 'notice me' techniques to get a crowd
    going, instead of solely relying on talent.)
    They like referring to their sounds as 'organic.'

Why they might not be annoying:

    They eventually decided to come back together by starting playing live again in December 2002 and recording 20 different volumes of discs of them performing live called, 'Phish Live' (2001-2003).
    They made a guest appearance on The Simpsons (2002).
    When Trey was younger he helped his mother write songs for children's records.
    In 1999 they released a documentary of them recording and performing live.
    They have a cult following that has been compared to that of Grateful Dead.
    They are known for their stage shows and unusual props.
    Their music is a combination of blues, jazz, rock and bluegrass.
    Holdsworth left the band for religion.
    They played their first show in a University of Vermont basement.
    They performed the National Anthem at the NBA finals (2003).
    Ben & Jerry's named their ice cream, 'Phish Food' after them.
