Why he might be annoying:

    They are a one-hit wonder.
'Rocket' wasn't even made by a full band, but rather was recorded by Chris O'Connor at a garage of a friend. The rest of the band formed after 'Rocket' was released and was a success.
They were dropped from their label a year or so after the release of 'Rocket.' Their follow up album was delayed more so after their new label was involved in a merger and eventually dropped them as well.
As a result, it took over four years until their follow-up to 'Rocket' was released on an indie label, and it didn't come close to the success of their previous album.
'Rocket,' which had been certified as a gold album when it was released, went out of print.

Why he might not be annoying:

'Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in My Hand' spent six weeks at the top of Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart in 1996.
The song is noted for sampling a line from B.B. King's 'How Blue Can You Get?'
After giving up on music after a previous stint was unsuccessful and while working as an air traffic controller, Chris O'Connor sent demo tapes he found while housecleaning to several record labels.
One executive in particular liked the song that would become a hit, and signed him to a recording contract.
Despite going years without a hit, they still recorded music in 2010.
