    He was drafted by BAA's Providence Steamrollers and the NFL's Chicago Bears, but he never played for either team.
    He wasn't a good fielder as he often committed errors.
    His injured right wrist caused his productivity in Boston to go into decline following his Rookie of the Year Award winning season.
    His foot speed was his weakness.
    His performance in the Walt Dropo Day exhibition game was a disappointment as he committed three errors and went 0-6 (1953).
    He never played in the post-season or the World Series.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a college star player in football, basketball and baseball.
    He hit a career high of 34 home runs during the 1950 season.
    He tied Johnny Kling's record for consecutive hits in each at-bat at the plate with 12 (July 15, 1952).
    He was the first ever player in Red Sox history to win the AL Rookie of the Year Award.
    He got a new car, gifts and praise before the Walt Dropo Day exhibition game began in Hartford, Connecticut (1953).
    He was inducted into the Connecticut Huskies of Honor (February 5, 2007).
