The Resume

    (September 5, 1989-December 26, 1993)
    Hosted by Joan Rivers
    Aired in Syndication
Reruns aired on E! and Decades TV
Nominated for 24 Daytime Emmys (2 wins)

Why The Joan Rivers Show might be annoying:

It was the forerunner to The Wendy Williams Show.
Its host and guest Jessica Hahn got into a shouting match during which Hahn referred to Rivers as ‘a dried up old prune’ for allegedly joking about her being a call girl (November 29, 1992).
While hosting, Joan started designing jewelry that she would hawk on QVC.
After it was canceled, Joan followed the natural progression and did a show called ‘Can We Shop?’ which was short lived.

Why The Joan Rivers Show might not be annoying:

Joan Rivers won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host in 1990.
It was Joan’s comeback vehicle following the humiliating Late Show experience.
Its run was concurrent with the Arsenio Hall Show (which ironically came into being after Hall had taken over on Joan’s FOX show).
Joan had an up-and-coming RuPaul on as a guest and gave her half the show.
It was one of the few programs of the 1990s to openly support the LGBT community.
An episode was devoted to the disappearance of 12 year-old Johnny Gosch and had Johnny’s mother Noreen on as a guest to talk about the case (February 6, 1990).
