When she was sixteen, she and her sister auditioned unsuccessfully for Elektra Records.
She dropped out of UCLA after six weeks.
She was a one-hit wonder.
Despite being classified as a singer-songwriter, her only hit was a cover of an R&B oldie.

She was taught guitar by Lee Hamilton of the Weavers.
She was a member of the folk-rock group Bryndle with Andrew Gold.
She was signed to a recording contract after Linda Ronstadt covered three of her songs on the ‘Hasten Down the Wind’ album (1976).
Her songs were also covered by Lynn Anderson, Wynonna Judd, and Bonnie Raitt.
