Why he might be annoying
He did not live a normal childhood, following his parents around the world as professional scuba divers.
He too was to follow in his parent's footsteps until a diving accident at age 17 rendered him unable to dive any longer.
He had three children with two different women (one out of wedlock).
He divorced his wife Milla Jovovich after over 4 years of marriage.
In 1999, he was placed under police investigation for the charge of involuntary manslaughter when one of the cameramen was hit and killed by a car during filming on 'Taxi 2.'
He stated several times that he will only ever direct 10 films in his life.
Why he might not be annoying
He has since recovered from his childhood injury and is able to dive again.
He directed video clips for Isabelle Adjani and Madonna.
He frequently casts Jean Reno and Milla Jovovich.
He always used long time friend Eric Serra to compose the music for his films.
He often creates female characters that are strong willed and powerful, claiming that such a character is richer and more interesting than the standard Hollywood strong man.
