Why he might be annoying:

    He originally was interested in soccer and noted about his tennis, ‘I behaved really bad, and so everybody said, ‘O.K., that guy’s never going to win anything.’
    Boris Becker wrote, ‘Every player has his weakness. Everyone knew that Stich had only to be distracted two or three times and he’d lose control.’
    He complained about spending his career largely in Becker’s shadow, ‘I only rarely got the recognition I deserved for my achievements. It was always Boris who, even in his worst moments, got the attention.’
    As a BBC commentator at Wimbledon, he said that female players ‘are there to sell sex.’ (2009)

Why he might not be annoying:

    He won Wimbledon as a 66-1 underdog.
    He said about his decision to retire after reaching the 1997 Wimbledon semifinals, ‘That’s a good finish. You don’t have to start losing against guys you don’t want to lose against.’
    He started an AIDS awareness foundation when he was 26, making him the youngest founder of a charity in Germany.
