The Resume

    (October 30, 1941- )
    Born in Texarkana, Texas
Birth name was Otis Miles, Jr.
    Second tenor in the Temptations
Co-authored the book 'The Temptations' (1988), which became the basis for an NBC miniseries (1998) and the Broadway show 'Ain't Too Proud' (2019)

Why he might be annoying:

He was engaged to Patti LaBelle, but she called it off when he asked her to quit music and become a housewife.
Despite being a Temptation longer than any other member, he rarely got to sing lead.
After the 'Temptations' miniseries aired, he (along with several other people involved in its production) was successfully sued for being portrayed inaccurately by his ex-wife, the band's first manager, and the estates of late Temptations Melvin Franklin and David Ruffin.
He sued to stop ex-Temptation Dennis Edwards from using the band's name, despite Edwards having been lead singer on several of their late-60s hits.

Why he might not be annoying:

His father abandoned the family shortly after his birth.
His son Otis Lamont was a construction worker who was killed in a workplace accident at age 24 (1983).
He became the last original member of the Temptations when bass singer Melvin Franklin retired because of poor health (1994).
One critic noted, 'Otis was the enemy of most of the Temptations over the years. But had he been more likeable, they probably would have broken up in 1968 when Ruffin left.'
