    Born in New Ulm, Minnesota
    Catcher for the Oakland Athletics (1986-96) and the Minnesota Twins (1997-99)
    Major League Baseball All-Star Game MVP (1988)

Why he might be annoying:

    He didn't start playing the catcher position until his second year playing professionally.
    He made the AL All-Star roster, despite posting modest numbers (1988).
    He skipped the A's World Series reception at the White House in order to go on a hunting trip.
    He spent the final three seasons of his career on poor Twins teams.
    He contemplated a comeback a year after retiring, but was forced to shelf the idea when he tore his hamstring.

    He hit a home run in his first major league at-bat.
    He was a member of the Athletics teams that made three consecutive World Series appearances (1988-90).
    He took a significant paycut upon signing with the Twins.
    Despite missing a sizable amount of games due to an eye injury, he was able to recover in time to play in the MLB All Star Game, earning MVP honors (1988).
    He caught two no hitters during his career (1990, 1999).
