    He was in a band called 'The Continentals' with future Eagles guitarist Don Felder.
    He became the first person to be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice in the same night (1997).
    His first solo album went platinum and featured Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and Ringo Starr.
    He wrote and performed a song about racism in Los Angeles called 'It Won't Go Away' on 'The Arsenio Hall Show.'
