    Born in Rome, Italy
    Religion of the ancient Romans
Deities included Jupiter, Minerva, Diana, Pluto, and Vulcan
Originated with the worship of three native Italian gods -- Jupiter, Mars, and Quirinis -- before combining with the Greek religion.
It was basically a ripoff of Greek mythology with only the names of the gods changed.
With the major exception of Virgil's Aeneid, it didn't inspire the literary tradition of Greek mythology.
Let's face it, the Roman Empire was vicious and brutal, which does not give its religion a good name.
According to it, Rome's founders were raised by a wolf.
It wasn't real; Jupiter and Minerva no more existed than the tooth fairy.
Later in the Roman Empire, Caesars began proclaiming themselves gods.
Its followers were much more inclusive of other religions, with many Romans worshiping the Egyptian goddess Isis in addition to their own gods.
It had a god of drinking, Bacchus.
It once had a god of the common people, Quirinus.
Famed classicist Edith Hamilton was very dismissive of it.
People followed it for hundreds of years, so it must have offered something to its followers.
    Nobody believes in it anymore.
Saint Augustine crushed its basis and of polytheism in general in his magnificent tome, The City of God.
