Why he might be annoying:

He said about his desire to be an actor, ‘My father was against it, my mother was shocked, and they did everything to stop me.’
He set a Guinness record (since broken) for longest after-dinner speech at eleven hours.
The Liberal Party urged him to run for Parliament but he declined because he feared he would have to give up show business.
He says his worst habit is worrying ‘a bit too much.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a natural left-hander who was forced to write with his right.
Prolific game show contestant David St. John called him ‘the ultimate quiz show host’ for his ‘geniality, clarity of diction and the speed with which he rattled through questions.’
He hosted ‘Just a Minute’ for over 50 years without missing an episode, until he had to have panelist Gyles Brandreth substitute for him for two shows due to illness in June, 2018.
He said, ‘People always want to label you. But I’ve no one label. I’ve been a comedian, a serious actor, a comedy actor, a quiz show host, a game show host, a straight man.’
