Gambler
    (September 8, 1953-November 22, 1998)
    Birth name was Stu Unger
3-time World Series of Poker Champion
He had a severe cocaine addiction.
He squandered millions through gambling and drugs.
He died heavily in debt, leaving behind a 15 year old daughter.
He vanished from the poker spotlight for over 7 years, around the early 1990's.
He dropped out of school at 15 to pursue his gambling interests.
Stu once won a $10,000 gin rummy tournament at age 15, gave $1,000 to his parents, and lost the rest betting on horses.
He is recognized as perhaps the best poker player of all time.
He won back-to-back World Series of Poker championships in 1980 and 1981.
After many years away from the spotlight, Stu returned (some say playing while on cocaine) to win the WSOP again in 1997.
He once said although he could conceive of a better poker player than himself, not in the next 50 years of the world would there be a better Gin player.
He became a 'professional gambler' at age 14.
He said: 'I never wanted to be called a good loser; if you're a good loser, you're still a loser.'
He would bet anyone $10,000 to place 6 decks of cards in a shoe. He could name the final 2 decks (104 remaining cards) after 4 decks had been dealt on the table.
His father died when Stu was 14.
At 15, Stu won a $10,000 gin rummy tournament without ever losing a hand.
He had difficulty finding games to play because he was so feared by opponents, also banned for life from entering many casinos due to his card-counting abilities.
He won 10 out of 30 no-limit hold 'em tournaments he entered, an astonishing percentage for any poker player.
He was found dead in a Las Vegas motel at age 45.
Stu's autopsy revealed he had died from a heart condition developed over a period of time, brought on by his life-style.
