The Resume

    (December 31, 1960- )
    Frontman/song writer/guitarist with the Replacements
Recorded with the Replacements, 'Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take out the Trash,' 'Stink,' 'Hootenany,' 'Let it Be,' 'Tim,' 'Pleased to Meet Me,' 'Don't Tell a Soul' and 'All Shook Down'
Recorded solo the soundtrack for the movie 'Singles,' '14 Songs,' 'Eventually,' 'Suicainegratification' and 'Stereo/Mono'

Why he might be annoying:

He is perennial favorite of music critics yet his albums don't sell well.
His band purposely played really lousy shows.
He was addicted to drugs and alcohol.
    He smokes.
His solo work has been deemed mediocre at best.
He told The Replacements original lead guitarist, Bob Stinson, to either chug a bottle of champagne or leave the stage during the show. Bob was enjoying a brief moment of sobriety at the time, but quickly returned to drinking
He then kicked Bob out of the band for being too addicted to drugs and alcohol.
After Kurt Cobain killed himself, he said 'Thank God it wasn't someone I knew.'
He was banned from 'Saturday Night Live' when a member of the Replacements cussed on the air. He did however play on 'SNL' again.
The Replacements failed to show up for the 'Bastards of Young' video due to a drinking binge. The director simply filmed a man laying on a couch tapping his shoes to the beat, at the end of the song, the man trashes his stereo.

Why he might not be annoying:

While fellow college music bands like REM moved into mainstream music audiences and more money, Paul has permanently remained an alternative rocker.
When asked why the Replacements never made it 'big' Paul said, 'We didn't try hard enough.'
Kurt Cobain named Nirvana's 'Nevermind' album in reference to a Replacement's song with the same title.
His music is influence some of today's bands with admirers ranging from Nirvana, the Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day and many more.
He has a very sarcastic/ironic sense of humor.
The high school in the movie 'Heathers' was named Westerberg High in honor of him.
'All Shook Down' was nominated for a Grammy.
'Tim' is considered by many critics to be one of the greatest albums of the 1980's.
Rolling Stone magazine named The Replacements the best band of the 1980's.
