(October 18, 1952- )
Born in Bethpage, New York
Birth name was Charles Michael Levine
Creator or co-creator of Grace Under Fire, Cybil, Dharma & Greg, Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory
Why he might be annoying
He said that in college he 'majored in rock and roll and pot and minored in LSD.'
'Entertainment Weekly' described his personality as 'combine Larry David's flustered misanthropy, David E. Kelley's prolificacy, and a smidgen of Streisand's perfectionism.'
He complains endlessly about 'Two and a Half Men' not getting respect from the Emmy voters, even though it has earned 30 nominations.
He uses the vanity cards at the end of his shows to vent about critics, network execs, his stars, etc.
Charlie Sheen drinking, doing cocaine and getting busted for domestic violence could not get him fired from 'Two and a Half Men'; but calling Lorre a clown and 'Chaim Levine,' THAT drew a pink slip.
Why he might not be annoying
During an earlier career as a musician, he wrote Debbie Harry's international hit 'French Kissin' (In the USA).'
He inspired a Facebook group, 'I watch Chuck Lorre's programs just for his vanity cards.'
He received the David Angell Humanitarian Award for his charity work (2010).
'Two and a Half Men' co-creator Lee Aronsohn said, 'You look at some of the sitcom creators who have been lionized, and they have one successful show! Chuck's had four.' (And that comment was made before the success of 'The Big Bang Theory.')
