    Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota
    Nicknamed 'Badger Bob'
    Attended the University of North Dakota and the University of Wisconsin-Madison
    Head coach for the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1966-1981), Calgary Flames (1982-1987) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (1990-1992)
    Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame (1992)
    Died of brain cancer at age 60
    He never played in the NHL.
    He has the same name as the founder of BET and a musician.
    While teaching history, he used a hockey stick as a chalkboard pointer.
    He coached the U.S. Olympic hockey team to 5th place in the 1976 Winter Olympics.
    He coached the 1986 Stanley Cup losing Flame team.
    He served in the Korean War.
    He created the phrase: 'It's a great day for hockey!'
    He coached the University of Wisconsin-Madison to three NCAA Championships.
    He coached the Penguins to win their first ever Stanley Cup with Mario Lemieux on the roster (1991).
    He suffered from a brain aneurysm.
    In memoriam, his name was added to the Stanley Cup as the Penguins won their second championship (1992).
