Critic

The Resume

    (November 24, 1984- )
    Born in Johnson City, Tennessee
Female Counterpart to Douglas Walker AKA The Nostalgia Critic
Originally utilized the screen name, 'The Dudette'
Won the 'Search for the Nostalgia Chick' contest, in August 2008
Show produced by Channel Awesome; appeared on Thatguywiththeglasses.com (2008-2012)
Friends, Antonella Inserra and Elisa Hansen, frequently appeared on segments of the show

Why she might be annoying:

A running joke is her undying hatred for Disney's 'Little Mermaid' (she REALLY hates it!)
She attributes her hiring by Doug Walker to the 'Smurfette Principal' - a term she invented to explain television shows creating female counterparts for their more popular male protagonists.
And, indeed, Doug did initiate the 'Search' contest to get out of reviewing 'girly' content like 'My Little Pony' (he later found a franker way to explain this - 'There's one problem. I have testicles!')
She got away with making a joke about a character throwing an 'autistic temper tantrum' around the same time that viewers jumped down Doug Walker's throat for doing virtually the same thing.
Her humor is peppered with sometimes cringe-inducing jabs at Evangelicals/Middle America (e.g. mocking the popularity of the 'Christmas Shoes' song by saying 'What Christmas is all about - buying shit for your mother whom God opted to kill off on Christmas? God killed that woman so you would get your shit together').
Her audition tape was a review of Disney's Pocahontas; wherein she joked about John Smith/Mel Gibson throwing himself in front of a gun with 'oh that's right, he's gotta play Jesus in every film he's in!' (a jab at 'Passion of the Christ' - where actually Jim Caviezel played him not Gibson...)

Why she might not be annoying:

Her reviews tend to come off as more inventive than Walker's; usually critiquing the subject as a whole as opposed to just 'summarizing the movie.'
Her jokes at the expense of 'rednecks' may be a character devise used for self depreciation (after all, she did grow up in a small town in the Appalachia).
Her favorite films include WALL.E, 'Princess Mononoke,' The 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, and 'Blazing Saddles.'
She's in the minority of fans who have the balls to argue that the Johnny Depp version of 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' is superior to the Gene Wilder version.
Some of her pop-culture references have become part of the YouTube vernacular ('big lipped alligator moment' - a seemingly random moment in a movie that has no bearing to its plot).
She took the daunting task of reviewing fan/cult-favorite, 'Matilda,' during which a thinly disguised Mara Wilson appeared to critique the film with her (and to briefly threaten to vaporize her).
She took a personal risk doing a video project centered around her abortion, 'The A-Word (No Womb At the Inn'),' to take a closer look at the Pro-Life/Pro-Choice debate.
She was almost unwilling to take on the 'Nostalgia Chick' position she won because she was preparing to pursue a degree in Filmmaking at the University of Southern California (she eventually did get the degree in 2011).
