It gave us John Stossel and Barbara Walters!
In its debut, The New York Times described it as 'dizzyingly absurd' and the Washington Post denounced it as 'the trashiest stab at candy cane journalism yet.'
Because of the negative fare it received, the original anchors were replaced by Hugh Downs.
Some have criticized Stossel's 'Gimme a Break' segments.

Why 20/20 might not be annoying:

It won numerous awards.
It is one of the longest running shows on American primetime television.
It reunited former Today anchors Downs and Walters.
