Why he might be annoying:

He was suspended for playing in the Beijing Olympics when word of his planned defection out of Cuba became public.
He blew the save opportunity for the Cubs in Game 7 of the World Series, nearly costing them the chance to end their 108 year drought.
He was arrested after he choked his girlfriend and fired eight shots at her in a domestic dispute (October 30, 2015).
He was suspended for the first 30 games of the 2016 season as a result of the incident.
As a result of the charges, a potential trade that would have seen him go to the Los Angeles Dodgers was scrapped.
He publicly complained about his workload with the Cubs during the World Series, and specifically singling out Joe Maddon for overusing him.

Why he might not be annoying:

He grew up poor in a three room house with his parents and two sisters.
He initially planned on pursuing a boxing career, before he was discovered to have a natural talent for baseball.
He arranged for his family to defect to the United States in the year following his defection.
He holds the Guinness World Record for fastest pitch speed (105 km/h)
His fast pitch style earned him the nickname 'The Cuban Missile.'
He broke Bruce Sutter's record for consecutive games with a strikeout (49 in 2014).
Despite blowing the save in the deciding game, he saved himself from being the scapegoat amongst Cub fans by getting credited with the win in Game 7 of the World Series (2016).
