Sports Team
    (September 29, 2004- )
    Former Montreal Expos
    Relocated from Montreal, Quebec
Major league debut (April 6, 2005)
Plays at Nationals Park in Washington, DC
Former and current Nationals include Brad Wilkerson, Jose Vidro, Brian Schneider, Livan Hernandez, Vinny Castilla, Jose Guillen, Lastings Milledge, Elijah Dukes, Stephen Strasburg, Ryan Zimmerman and Bryce Harper
    World Series Champions (2019)
Their caps are replicas of the former Washington Senators who left the city some 30 years earlier.
They wanted to be the third major league team called the Washington Senators (former Minnesota Twins and former Texas Rangers).
They were unsuccessful because the Texas Rangers still own the name 'Washington Senators.'
Their logo on their ball cap represents that of a pretzel.
They almost halted the relocation when the local government threatened not to finance a new ball park for the Washington area.
    They lost their first game.
According to DC mayor Tony Williams, the name Nationals was chosen because D.C. has no Senators in Congress.
The reception to the team has been really good.
They are in a city that actually wants to have a baseball team.
They decided not to go for the name 'Senators,' settling for 'Nationals' which was a previous Washington team.
They developed great rivalries with the Baltimore Orioles and the Philadelphia Phillies.
After years of speculation of the Expos relocating to Washington, D.C., they were aggressive in bringing the beleaguered franchise to the Nation's Capital.
After splitting two seasons playing in both Montreal's Olympic Stadium and San Juan's Hiram Bithorn Stadium, they will finally have a permanent home in Washington.
Brad Wilkerson hit for the cycle in the team's second game.
