The Resume

    (1986- )
    Carol Decker, vocals
    Ronnie Rogers, guitar
Recorded the singles ‘Heart and Soul’ (1987), ‘China in Your Hand’ (1987), ‘Valentine’ (1987), ‘I Will Be With You’ (1988), ‘Secret Garden’ (1988) and ‘Whenever You Need Me’ (1991)

Why they might be annoying:

They were named after a Vulcan in ‘Star Trek.’
The apostrophe in their name plays havoc with the AIA search engine.
Members other than Decker and Rogers tended to come and go.
‘Heart and Soul’ did not become a hit until it was used in a jeans advertisement.
’Smash Hits’ wrote, ‘There were some irritating number ones in 1987, but T'Pau's ‘China in Your Hand’ took the biscuit, didn't it?’

Why they might not be annoying:

Decker and Rogers co-wrote all their hits.
Decker noted, ‘We had a lot of gay fans because of the song ‘Secret Garden,’ which is about being yourself…. It's an overused phrase but some of our songs are the soundtrack of people's lives.’
In a poll conducted by ITV, ‘China in Your Hand’ was voted the 11th favorite UK number one hit of the 1980s (2015).
