    Her former accountant testified that her duties included regularly handing envelopes of cash to conservative politicians, including a total of 150,000 euros to the presidential campaign of Nicholas Sarkozy.
    She began working at L’Oreal as an apprentice when she was fifteen and modeled for the company’s early labels.
    She donated 150 million euros to establish the Bettencourt Scheuller Foundation to fund medical research, cultural projects and humanitarian relief (1987).
    She lost $25 million to Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme.
    Banier and seven of her servants were convicted of swindling $1 billion from her (2015).
