TV Series
    (July 31, 1974-August 30, 1975)
Kiddie variety show aired on CBS Saturday mornings (September 7, 1974-August 30, 1975)
    Filmed in Toronto
Originally called 'The Hudson Brothers Show' as a Wednesday night summer replacement for 'The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour' (July 31, 1974-August 28, 1974)
Starred brothers Bill, Mark and Brett
Also starred Ted Zeigler, Billy Van, Peter Cullen, Murray Langston, Freeman King and Rod Hull and his Emu (puppet)
Released on DVD (June 17, 2008)
It went from a one hour Wednesday evening show to a half hour Saturday morning show, which any way you look at it is a demotion.
The emu puppet's shtick was attacking everybody on the set.
It recycled Cookie Bear (a dude in a bear suit) from the old 'Andy Williams Show.'
The brothers sang bubble gum tunes on the show.
Nobody on the show moved on to what could be called a stellar career, with the possible exception of Langston, who became The Unknown Comic.
    It lasted just 17 episodes.
It was a fun, light-hearted, good-natured show that attracted kids and kid-at-heart adults.
The brothers convinced CBS programming director Fred Silverman to give them a show after a song and an improv Three Stooges routine.
After their first show CBS head honcho William S. Paley called Silverman and told him the show was 'the best television show he'd ever seen.'
Brett's alter ego on the show, basement dwelling kid Chucky Margolis, had a large cult following.
One of the songs sung on the show, 'So You are a Star,' a song penned by Bill about his then wife Goldie Hawn, reached #21 on the Billboard Singles chart in 1974.
Rod Hull died in 1999 when he fell off his roof installing a TV antenna.
