    Born in La Crosse, Wisconsin
Catcher for the Houston Astros (1991-95, 2001), Chicago Cubs (1995-98), San Francisco Giants (1999-2000) and the Colorado Rockies (2000)

Why he might be annoying:

He played for the Astros and the Giants twice during his career.
His name sounds similar to that of pitcher Scott Service.
He was hired as the Mariners manager, despite the fact he primarily worked in front office capacities.
Some baseball pundits felt he landed the Mariners managerial job through nepotism, as he was a close friend of incoming general manager Jerry Dipoto's.
He faced allegations of racism from a former team therapist (November 2018).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a valued leader in the clubhouse during his playing career.
He was instrumental in the resurgence of Nelson Cruz's career.
He had the support of many members in the Mariners organization when the allegations of racial remarks came to the surface.
He's been described as being an easy going manager by his players.
He made good on a bet he made with Edwin Diaz, when the latter recorded his 50th save by getting a haircut in the same style of Diaz's.
