It was once believed that their music contained subliminal messages that encouraged people to commit suicide. Two fans committed suicide after listening to the song 'Better By You, Better Than Me.'
They replaced lead singer Rob Halford with 'Ripper' Owens, a singer in a Priest Cover Band, this was the basis for the movie 'Rock Star.'
Halford shocked many fans when he admitted that he was gay.
The band was acquitted of the subliminal charges.
They were one of the first bands to start off the 'New Wave of British Heavy Metal.'
They reunited with Halford in 2003.
