The Resume
(1947- )
Former owner of TCI cable
Chairman of Y.E.S. (Yankee Entertainment and Sports Network)
Why he might be annoying
He races Porsches and stock cars as his hobby, which have resulted in a number of fractures.
He refused to budge in negotiating with Cablevision, causing most local Yankee fans to have no ability to watch 130 games.
He has waged a very negative campaign against Cablevision.
YES would make $175 million in subscriber fees and $50 million in advertising if they can sign up Cablevision.
Cablevision would have to pay YES $62 million.
Why he might not be annoying
He is the first chairman of Y.E.S. (2002).
Because of Cablevision's monopoly of three million homes, Y.E.S. is forced to negotiate with Cablevision or lose that access.
He wants Cablevision to pay for the access and make the Yankees part of basic cable and not charge fans as if it is a premium channel.
