    Notable credits include 'Schindler's List (1993),' 'Saving Private Ryan (1998),' 'Minority Report (2002),' 'War Horse (2011),' and 'Lincoln (2012)'
    Favoritism for Steven Spielberg is evident in the fact that he did camerawork for all of Spielberg films since 1993.
    He divorced from his first wife, actress Holly Hunter, after six years of marriage.
    He also does cinematography for television commercials such as automobile manufacturer Mazda.
    People tend to pronounce his first name like the mythical figure Janus (for the record , it is Ya-NUSH).
    He and his family emigrated from Poland after prime minister Wojciech Jaruzelski imposed martial law in 1981.
    He attended Columbia College in Chicago before transferring to the AFI Conservatory.
    During college, he met future fellow Best Cinematography Oscar champs Mauro Fiore and Wally Pfister.
    He twice won the Oscar for Best Cinematography in 1994 and 1999.
    Demonstrating his sense of humor, he appeared in a skit during the 2009 Oscars about comedy films from the previous year with James Franco and Seth Rogen. He later presented Best Live Action Short Film with the two actors in that same ceremony.
    He emulated World War II photographer Robert Capa's out-of-focus D-Day photos in filming ‘Saving Private Ryan.'
