    Won three Cesar Awards (the French Oscars) for Best Actor for 'La Cage aux Folles' (1979), 'Garde a vue' (1982) and 'Nelly and Monsieur Arnaud' (1996)
    Also appeared in 'Diabolique' (1955), 'King of Hearts' (1966), 'Get Out Your Handkerchiefs' (1978), 'Bonsoir' (1994), 'Artemisia' (1997), 'Assassin(s)' (1997), 'The Girl from Paris' (2001) and 'Have Mercy On Us All' (2007)

Why he might be annoying:

    He originally planned to be a priest but dropped out of the seminary when he fell for a girl and decided he could not handle the celibacy vow.
    Although he made over 130 films, in the US he is known almost exclusively for playing a drag queen in 'La Cage aux Folles.'
    He appeared in two increasingly lousy 'La Cage' sequels.

Why he might not be annoying:

    His daughter Caroline died in an auto accident (1977).
    He excelled at both comedy and drama.
    He received the French Legion of Honor (1999).
