    Born in London, United Kingdom
    Birth name was Philip Baker
Member of Parliament for Coventry (1929-31), Derby (1936-50) and South Derby (1950-70)
    Named Baron Noel-Baker (1977)

Why he might be annoying:

He added his wife's name to his own to create a new hyphenated last name.
He had a long-term affair with David Lloyd George's daughter.
He wrote, 'Against a great evil, a small remedy does not produce a small result; it produces no result at all.' (Which may explain why the small remedy of writing books about the subject did not lead to disarmament.)

Why he might not be annoying:

He was fluent in seven languages.
He was an excellent amateur athlete, who won a silver medal in the 1500 meters (1920) and was the flag bearer for the British Olympic team (1924).
He organized an ambulance unit during World War I, winning medals for valor from France and Italy.
For two decades, he served in Parliament alongside his son, Francis.
