Pitched for the Oakland A's (1969-1977), San Francisco Giants (1978-1981, 1985-1986) and Kansas City Royals (1982-1983)

Why he might be annoying:

He turned down a bonus from Oakland A’s owner Charles Finley to change his name to True Blue.
He sat out the first month of the 1972 season due to a salary dispute.
Finley tried to sell his contract to both the Yankees and the Reds, but both deals were voided by the commissioner’s office as not being in the best interest of baseball.
He was not effective in post season play.
He was a drug addict who served prison time plus a one-year suspension from baseball for cocaine use in 1984.
He attempted a comeback with the A’s in 1987, but flunked a urine test to detect cocaine use.

Why he might not be annoying:

After his suspension, he enjoyed a comeback with the San Francisco Giants and was the starting pitcher for the National League All Star team.
He pitched a no-hitter when he was 20.
He won the AL MVP and Cy Young Awards in 1971.
His salary in his MVP season was only $14,700.
He was the first pitcher to start an All-Star game for each league.
The back of his uniform read Vida instead of Blue.
He got married on the playing field of Candlestick Park on Fan Appreciation Day in 1989.
