    'Waffle House Hero'

Why he might be annoying:

His acts of heroism were dogged by complaints that it wasn't acknowledged by President Trump.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders claimed in a press briefing that there had been an outreach effort to bring him to the White House, but when asked he said he hadn't heard from either the President or any members of his staff.
He inadvertently was at the center of the Joy Behar- Kid Rock feud after it was announced that he was replacing Rock as the Nashville Christmas Parade's Grand Marshall following Rock's calling Behar 'a bitch' on live TV.

Why he might not be annoying:

He graduated from Tennessee State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
His elbow was grazed by a bullet during the attack.
He disarmed the shooter after he pointed the gun down to reload, tossing the gun across the counter and saving countless untold lives in the process.
He remained humble after being showered with media attention, saying: 'I did that completely out of a selfish act. I was completely doing it just to save myself. Now, me doing that, I did save other people.'
He started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the families of the four victims of the shooting (the page raised over $200,000).
He declined to criticize President Trump for acknowledging Kanye West over him, when prompted to by Van Jones during an interview.
When Chadwick Boseman won the MTV Movie Award for Best Superhero, Boseman called him up to the stage and gave him the award, for being one of 'the heroes we have in real life.'
