Why he might be annoying:

    He failed to replicate the numbers he posted in his rookie season.
    His defensive skills were shoddy enough for the Cubs to trade him.
    He was traded to the Dodgers in wake of the Adrian Beltre scandal, but was exiled to the lower ranks of the depth chart.
    He didn't return to the majors for two years prior to returning to the Cubs.
    He retired from baseball one game into the 2006 season, when he failed to catch on with the Astros.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He finished second to Scott Rolen in NL Rookie of the Year voting (1997).
    He was a standout baseball player at the University of Indiana.
    Despite not getting called up to the majors after his second stint with the Cubs, he posted solid numbers to warrant consideration.
