The Resume

    (1967- )
    Birth name is Sandra Kellar
    Raised Christian
    Converted to Islam (1997)
Refused to unveil her face for Florida driver's license (2002)
    Convicted of child battering (1998)

Why she might be annoying:

She was arrested in Decatur, Illinois for battering a foster child.
She plead guilty to felony aggravated battery (1999).
She was sentenced to 18 months probation.
Her two foster children were removed from her care (or is that abuse).
She sued the state of Florida to allow her to have her license photo remain as a veiled picture of her face.
She refused Florida's offer to have a female photographer take her unveiled picture in privacy.
The State of Florida argue successfully that giving id's to those that conceal their identity could be used easily by others including terrorists (June 6, 2003).
Muslim countries such as Egypt, UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain do not allow women to veil their faces on their driver's license.
Jordan allows women to veil their face on their drivers license but prohibits them from driving wearing a veil.
UCLA law professor Khaled Abou El Fadl, an expert on Islamic law testified that there were exceptions and the Muslim women need not always cover their face. He reasoned that the purpose of the veil is to stop female allurement. He cited that veils are removed for medical necessity and identifying the dead.
Her lawyer was pro bono from the ACLU.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was allowed to have her face veiled on a pre-September 11th, Florida driver's license.
Her license was good until 2007, but was revoked in 2002, because it did not have a full face photo.
She challenged Florida's rules of not allowing people to cover their faces on driver's license.
She testified: 'I don't unveil ... because it would be disobeying my Lord.'
The Qu'ran instructs women to cover their faces when with unrelated men.
The ACLU claimed she was being punish due to the act of others.
The judge acknowledged that she 'most likely poses no threat to national security' but that ruling otherwise would allow others to wear items to mask their identity for unlawful purposes.
She said that driving was a necessity to care for her two children.
It was argued that 14 other states allow licenses without photos, however the judge ruled that those were either temporary licenses or that photos of the drivers were on file with their DMV. Kansas, Missouri and South Carolina allow driver's licenses without photos.
