Actor
    (January 26, 1918-June 5, 1996)
    Born in San Francisco, California
Birth name was Vito Giusto Scozzari
TV credits include Twilight Zone, Dr. Kildare, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Man from U.N.C.L.E., Gilligan’s Island, Get Smart, Ironside, and The Golden Girls
Radio credits include ‘Life with Luigi’
Film credits include ‘Illegal Entry (uncredited),’ ‘How Sweet It Is,’ ‘The Aristocats,’ ‘The Godfather,’ ‘Chu Chu and the Philly Flash,’ ‘’ and ‘Get Shorty’
Died of lung cancer in Woodland Hills, California at age 78
He has the signature gigantic Italian snout.
Scozzari couldn’t have been that hard of a name to pronounce; Giusto probably wasn’t.
When he didn’t have his moustache, he was sometimes mistaken for an adolescent.
    J. Carrol Naish – an Irishman with no Italian lineage – was his predecessor as the titular character in ‘Life with Luigi.’
You name the stereotypical Italian character, chances are he played it.
His family was based in Napoli, where – in early childhood – he developed a love of farce inspired by commedia dell’arte.
He worked as a pantomime and stage magician on the nightclub circuit.
Similar to Dom DeLuise, he had a thing for cooking.
Being another ‘man of a thousand faces,’ and adept at foreign dialect, he could seamlessly play a host of ethnics — including a Japanese sailor (one of four different appearances on Gilligan’s Island)!
He survived his first wife (1979) and was survived by his second.
