    Hosted the TV shows ‘The Black and White Minstrel Show’ (1960-70), ‘Crackerjack’ (1960-68), ‘The Leslie Crowther Show’ (1971), ‘The Price Is Right’ (1980-84), and ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ (1990-92)
    Portrayed Clive Gibbons in ‘My Good Woman’ (1972-74) and Tony Marchant in ‘Big Boy Now!’ (1976-77)
    Recorded the album ‘Songs for Swinging Children’ (1968)
    Father-in-law to rocker Phil Lynott

Why he might be annoying:

    He was a three pack a day smoker.
    He was arrested for DUI and had his license suspended for nine months (1983).
    He was reluctant to deliver the ‘Price Is Right’ catchphrase ‘Come on down,’ because his wife considered it too brash.
    When ‘The Price Is Right’ was cancelled, the producers did not bother to tell him. He found out when the press called and asked for his reaction.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a promising enough pianist to win a junior scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music.
    He successfully underwent rehab for alcohol and tobacco addiction (1989).
    He retired from entertainment after he suffered serious head injuries in a car crash (October 3, 1992).
    He was one of a handful of celebs to be featured twice on ‘This Is Your Life,’ interviewed by Eamonn Andrews in 1973 and Michael Aspel in 1993.
    He was named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to charity (1993), most prominently serving as president of Lord’s Taverners (1990-92), Britain’s leading disability sports charity.
