Manager for the Baltimore Orioles (1991-94) and the Texas Rangers (1995-2001)
AL Manager of the Year (1996)

Why he might be annoying:

He played on five different teams during his playoff career.
He was injury prone throughout his career.
He was one of the first casualties the Orioles made under owner Peter Angelos.
Despite guiding the Rangers to three playoff appearances, his teams only posted a 1-9 record.
He was fired by the Rangers after the team free-fell dramatically following their 1999 playoff berth.

He guided the Rangers to the first playoff berth in franchise history.
He is considered one of the most successful managers in the history of the Rangers franchise.
He was the second person in the history of the Rangers to have his jersey retired.
He was popular with Rangers fans and many felt he had unreasonable expectations saddled on him following owner Tom Hicksdecision to grossly overpay Alex Rodriguezinstead of focusing on the team's needs.
Prior to being diagnosed with a brain tumor, he intended to return to a managerial post.
