Why he might be annoying
He describes his voice as a combination of 'Gordon Lightfoot and a tea kettle.'
He attended several universities but dropped out to concentrate on music.
He has had addictions to alcohol and marijuana.
He also developed an addiction to painkillers thanks to the fact he suffers from chronic migraines. He had to be treated in rehab for this particular addiction.
In addition, he said he couldn't stop his addiction until he entered rehab due to suffereing from depression and panic attacks.
Uncle Tupelo had a bitter breakup when Jay Farrar decided to end the band without notifying him.
Why he might not be annoying
He is one of only two members to remain with Wilco throughout their entire existence.
He doesn't want to use up energy in trying to prevent people from listening to his music online.
He is a fan of The Beatles' White Album, and The Ramones.
He does not like it when Wilco is labeled as a particular type of music genre.
He produced and wrote a couple of songs for a Mavis Staples album in 2010.
He performed at Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert's rally to restore sanity and/or fear (2010).
