    (June 2, 1948-1978)
    Keyboardist for The Kinks (1970-78)
Played on 'Muswell Hillbilles (1971),' 'Everybody's In Showbiz (1972),' the 'Preservation' albums (1973, 1974), 'A Soap Opera (1975),' 'Schoolboys In Disgrace (1976),' 'Sleepwalker (1977),' and 'Misfits (1978)'
    Nicknamed 'The Baptist'
According to band members, his nickname came from his resemblance to John the Baptist.
John Dalton and drummer Mick Avory have both confronted John about his drinking problem in the 1970's.
Following onstage fisticuffs between Ray and Dave Davies, John would frequently cry.
He was first used for the tour promoting 'Lola' in 1970, and was never actually told he was a member of the band.
Along with Dalton and Avory, he formed the Kast-Off Kinks, attending Kinks fan meetings and celebrations.
He is a classically trained organist and pianist.
He teaches music in a school in Hertfordshire on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
He introduced The Kinks to synthesizers.
