    (November 20, 1820-August 5, 1895)
Co-wrote with Karl Marx 'The Communist Manifesto' and 'Das Kapital'
Wrote 'Industrial Manchester 1844,' 'The Peasant War in Germany' and 'On the History of Early Christianity'
    Influenced by German philosopher Hegel
Despite finding that the conditions of the working class was horrible, he still profited from it.
    He called for revolution.
He was greatly concerned with the poor conditions of the working class.
He befriended Karl Marx (1842) and they collaborated on the 'Communist Manifesto' (1848).
Although Marx actually wrote it, it was based on Engels' thoughts and outlines.
He was the financial backbone of early communism.
He believed that class struggle was necessary and found it foolish that the people who did the hard labor got the least, and the nobility that produced nothing got the most.
