Why they might be annoying:

Two former guitarists, Frank Torpey and Mick Stewart, quit before the band ever had a Top 40 hit.
Their musical style was all over the place, from bubble gum to glam to pop to album oriented to hard rock.
The double entendre of the 'Little Willy' lyrics and the band's overtly sexual stage act got them banned at some European venues.
In May 1973 'Little Willy' peaked at #2 and became the band's biggest hit, but it couldn't bump the cheesy Tony Orlando & Dawn song 'Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree' from the #1 spot.
Brian Connolly's alcoholism ravaged his health. He quit the band in 1979 to pursue a solo career that went nowhere. Later he toured as 'B.C. Sweet' without success.
After Sweet broke up, Andy Scott occasionally toured as 'A.S. Sweet.'
Halfhearted reunion tours in the 80's with one, two or three of the original members did nothing to further any of their careers.

Why they might not be annoying:

Connolly suffered a series of heart attacks and finally succumbed at age 51 (1997).
Mick Tucker lost a 5 year battle with leukemia at age 54 (2002).
Both 'Little Willy' and 'Fox On The Run' became certified gold records. Their album 'Desolation Boulevard' also went certified gold.
In 1992, there was renewed interest in the band when 'Wayne's World' came out featuring a rendition of their song 'Ballroom Blitz' by Tia Carrere.
'Ballroom Blitz' has also been covered by Krokus, The Damned, The Rezillos and Testify.
