    She wore a light green velvet dress to her own wedding.
    Only one of her twenty fashion books has been translated to English.
    Brooke Shields asked her to model her 1997 wedding dress after the Dancing Orchid fairies from the Nutcracker Suite segment in Disney’s Fantasia.

    Pierre Balmain was her fashion mentor.
    She opened Japan's first bridal store in Akasaka, Tokyo (December 1964).
    She designed the Easter vestments worn by Pope John Paul in 1993.
    She holds the Guinness World Record for the most pearls on a wedding dress (13,262 in total).
    She has also been credited with repopularizing the casual kimono after it fell out of popularity.
    One of her dresses is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute.
