Why he might be annoying
He struggled with alcoholism prior to his conversion to Islam.
He was described as 'incredibly naive and stupid', making him easily deceived by his recruits.
He suffered from depression.
He unsuccessfully attempted to recruit members to Al-Qaeda's terror cell in Australia.
He was tasked to target Israeli targets in Australia, including a presumed attempt to assassinate Jewish businessman Joe Gutnick.
Why he might not be annoying
Unlike many people who turned to terrorism, he was a hapless pawn rather than a brainwashed psycho.
All of his terrorist actions have ended in failure.
He claimed that if the authorities had listened to him in the first place, then the 9/11 attacks and the 2002 Bali bombings could have been prevented.
He is fluent in Indonesian.
Upon his release from prison, he was bombarded by interviewers disrupting his desire to live a quiet life.
