    Born in Iraq
Religion of the Sumerian Empire located in modern day Iraq
Reached its pinnacle around three thousand BC
Followers were an amalgation of Sumerian, Iranian, and other Semitic peoples
Its divine pantheon was a very standard and unoriginal collection of gods, most associated with some type of natural phenomena like; birth, agriculture, the weather, etc. with a special collection of fifty gods known as the 'Great Gods' and four other (Extra Great?) gods who ruled over them.
Its moral code is completely unknown.
Very little of its writings remain, including no liturgy documents. What writings do remain are hopelessly mixed up with nonsumerian Semitic works.
Its temples offered female and homosexual male prostitutes and eunuchs.
There was considerable conflict between its clergy and secular rulers.
Ishtar was one of its goddesses.
Many of its myths were extremely strange and were usually about the god's (usually incestuous) sex lives.
Every tool; hammer, saw, etc. had its own god.
It did not provide a creation myth.
As scholar Samuel Noah Kramer notes, it was the religion of the 'first empire in the history of civilization.'
The liturgical life of its followers are known to have included a lot of feasts, sacrifices, and prolonged New Year's celebrations.
The temples were spectacular ziggurats (pictured) some of which still stand today.
Its followers didn't go around waking you up on Saturday mornings trying to get you to read their stuff.
High Priest was an elected position.
It disappeared with the rise of Islam.
