    (May 20, 1923-June 26, 2011)
    Born in Boston, Massachusetts
Appeared in the films 'Madam X' (1929), 'Daddy Long Legs' (1931), 'Birthday Blues' (1932), 'Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch' (1934), 'Jane Eyre' (1934), 'She Married Her Boss' (1935), 'Pennies from Heaven' (1936), 'Little Miss Roughneck' (1938), 'Five Little Peppers and How They Grew' (1939), 'Girls' Town' (1942), 'Heart of the Rio Grande' (1942), 'Lilith' (1964) and 'The Hills Have Eyes, Part II' (1985)
    Mother-in-law of David 'Squiggy' Lander
She was pigeon-toed and took up dancing to correct her gait.
She was married and divorced twice.
She developed stage fright, quit acting and worked as a operator for telephone answering services.
She became dependent on Librium, Valium and alcohol.
Fellow child star Jackie Cooper announced plans to make a TV movie of her life (1985), which never came to fruition.
Her draconian grandmother banned her from playing with other children, since she could fall and mar her skin, and cut her off from anyone who might be a bad influence, which even included her father.
Her mother, who had abandoned her as an infant, showed up once she was a star to claim a share of her earnings, setting off a bitter custody battle.
When she turned 21, she discovered that the trust fund that was supposed to hold her earnings contained less than $1,000. She suspected that her mother had managed to empty out the rest of the account.
In the late 70s, a friend wrote 'Dreams Deferred,' a play based on her life and asked her to play the central character.
The performance led to guest appearances on a number of 80s TV shows, including Simon & Simon, Cagney and Lacey and St. Elsewhere.
She said her revived career let her quit pills and alcohol cold turkey.
