Why he might be annoying:

    He said, ‘Maybe ten people in the world call me by the name on my birth certificate. Sometimes I can barely remember what it is.’
    He began smoking cigarettes at age eleven and stopped only once: for ten months in 1985 to save enough money to buy a CD player.
    He failed several courses in college and had to repeat them.
    He said one of the reasons he went with Lee Child as a pseudonym was that it would place him between Raymond Chandler and Agatha Christie on bookstore shelves.
    He is a coffee addict: ‘My record is 36 mugs in a day.’

Why he might not be annoying:

    On his first day at Granada, he had a ‘working lunch’ with Laurence Olivier, Alec Guinness, John Gielgud and Ralph Richardson.
    Despite being British, his writing has a decidedly American style.
    He said of the casting of 5’7 Tom Cruise as 6’5 Jack Reacher, ‘He doesn’t look like Jack Reacher in the books, but then nobody does.’
    He begins writing each Jack Reacher novel on September 1.
    Although he denied a story in the ‘Daily Mail’ that he got high to write, he did say about marijuana, ‘I think it’s beneficial, harmless and better than alcohol.’
